Practice Better vs Splose: Which Practice Management Platform Is Right for You?

Most people searching Practice Better vs Splose want a clear winner. But there isn’t one (sorry).

I’ve spent the best part of two decades in operations. Over that time, I’ve watched more than one founder pick a platform because a peer rated it, set their whole practice up around it, then spend the next year running workarounds. I’ve even seen other COOs and OBMs give people bad advice just because that’s the platform they know best or get a commission for.

So in this guide, I’ll give you my honest take on which platform fits your practice best.

The short version

  • Practice Better suits health coaches, nutritionists and wellness practitioners who run coaching relationships and group programmes.
  • Splose suits allied health clinicians, physiotherapists, OTs and counsellors who need clinical notes and Xero integration.
  • Practice Better starts around $35 a month and has a free tier. Splose starts around £18 per practitioner a month, with AI notes as a paid add-on.
  • Choose by discipline, not by price.

The summary above is just a high-level overview of which platform tends to suit the various types of health and wellbeing businesses best. The detail below is about what actually separates the two platforms. If you’ve chosen wrong before, or if you’re building from scratch, keep reading for a more detailed breakdown.

What each healthcare platform is actually built for

Practice Better

Practice Better is a client engagement platform. It was designed for practitioners whose work lives in the ongoing relationship rather than the one-off clinical session: health coaches, nutritionists, dietitians and anyone running programmes or memberships.

Its strongest features are the client portal, the highly customisable intake and consent forms, custom online programmes and journal and habit tracking. Booking, telehealth and billing sit in one place. For a solo practitioner, it replaces a separate scheduling tool, video software and a basic EHR.

It has no meaningful clinical documentation tools. Complex session notes, multi-practitioner financial reporting, NDIS billing: none of that was the brief. If those sit at the centre of your day-to-day, this isn’t your platform.

Splose

Splose is an allied health platform, built for hands-on clinical work: physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, counsellors and psychologists. Clinical workflow is where it was designed to be strongest.

Its AI note-taking lets practitioners dictate and summarise clinical notes after a session using voice-to-text. For anyone writing a high volume of notes, for a practitioner writing 8 to 10 clinical notes a day, that removes a meaningful chunk of evening admin. Xero integration is built in. Batch invoicing, waitlist management and financial reporting work the way a busy clinic actually needs them to.

One thing UK practitioners need to know, because most comparisons skip it: Splose is Australian. There’s a dedicated UK version at splose.com/uk, but the NDIS features built into it are Australian and won’t apply to you. The clinical, scheduling and billing tools will. If you’re in the UK, work from the UK site and check what’s included before you commit.

Practice Better pricing

Most solo practitioners land on Starter (around $35 a month) or Professional (around $69). Larger teams move up to Plus or Team, which reaches roughly $145 to $155 a month.

One cost people miss: meal planning isn’t built in. If you’re a nutritionist who needs it, that’s a separate That Clean Life subscription on top, roughly $30 to $60 a month.

Splose pricing

Splose charges per practitioner, at roughly £18 each per month.

The AI note-taking is a separate add-on at £22.50, not part of the base price. Payment processing adds 1.75% plus 0.20p per transaction.

Splose also integrates Healthcode, the UK private-insurer billing gateway, which matters for UK clinics billing Bupa, AXA and the like.

For a solo practitioner, the headline price undercuts Practice Better’s Professional plan. Add the AI feature and that gap closes. For a multi-practitioner clinic, run your own numbers before you assume either one is cheaper.

Who should choose which healthcare CRM platform?

Practice Better is the right fit if:

  • You’re a nutritionist, dietitian, health coach or integrative practitioner.
  • Your work is the ongoing relationship, not the clinical session.
  • You run online programmes, memberships or group offerings.
  • You need a strong client portal with habit and journal tracking.
  • You want booking, video and a basic EHR in one place.
  • You’re solo or a small team.

Splose is the right fit if:

  • You’re a physiotherapist, OT, speech and language therapist, counsellor or psychologist.
  • You write a lot of clinical notes and want AI to cut the admin.
  • Xero is your accounting software and the two need to talk to each other.
  • You run a multi-practitioner or multi-location clinic.
  • You’re an Australian NDIS provider.
  • You need clinical-grade documentation, not just a booking tool.

Three questions that settle it

If you’re still on the fence, answer these honestly.

  • Is your admin mostly clinical notes, or mostly client communication and programmes?
  • Do you need your software to integrate with Xero?
  • Do you run group programmes or memberships?

Notes and Xero point you to Splose. Communication, programmes and memberships point you to Practice Better. If you answered down the middle, you’re probably a coaching-led practice with light clinical needs, and Practice Better will serve you better.

The practitioners who get this wrong are the ones who choose on price or a recommendation without checking whether the platform suits their business needs. And choosing the wrong one doesn’t just cost you the monthly fee. It costs you the migration, the workarounds in the meantime and weeks of rebuilding that should never have been necessary.

Both are solid platforms for the right practice. The point of this comparison was to make that obvious.

So if you’re at the point of choosing between Practice Better and Splose, you’re probably also at the point where the operational side of your business needs a proper look. That’s the work my team and I do. If you want a second pair of eyes on how your practice actually runs day to day, let’s talk

Splouse vs Practise Better FAQs

Is Practice Better or Splose better for nutritionists?

Practice Better. It was built for client engagement, with programmes, journals and habit tracking, and its intake forms are excellent. Just note that meal planning needs a separate That Clean Life subscription.

Does Splose work in the UK?

Yes. There’s a UK version at splose.com/uk. The clinical, scheduling and billing tools all apply. The NDIS features are Australian and won’t be relevant to you, so check what’s included before committing.

Is there a free version of Practice Better or Splose?

Both platforms are paid, but both have a free trial, so you can try before you buy.

Which has better AI note-taking?

Splose. Its voice-to-text dictates and summarises clinical notes after a session, which saves real time for practitioners writing high volumes of notes. It’s a paid add-on. Practice Better doesn’t offer an equivalent.

Can I switch from one to the other later?

You can, but it’s a job. You’ll be migrating client records, rebuilding forms and reconfiguring workflows. Far better to choose by discipline now than to move once your whole practice is built around the wrong tool.
